Fairytale Farm, nestled in the serene Oxfordshire countryside, is more than just an attraction—it's a journey into the enchanting world of classic fairy tales. Director Nick Laister created the UK’s first visitor attraction that is open to all, but where disabled children come first in the design and layout—a truly inclusive experience, where everything is accessible and everybody is welcome.

Nick and Nicola Laister, whose eldest daughter Olivia has cerebral palsy, had always wanted to visit an attraction that catered equally to children with and without disabilities. With this idea and a lot of hard work, Fairytale Farm was born.

Like many attractions, Fairytale Farm thrives during peak seasons but faces challenges in attracting visitors during off-peak times.

Scott the MD of Fluff Software, worked closely with Nick to craft a bespoke quest within the Huntly app. This showcases 19 unique items around Fairytale Farm. This collaboration aimed to seamlessly blend technology with outdoor exploration, offering families a unique and immersive adventure with a virtual badge when completed.  Nick and the team aimed to extend visitor dwell times, and by creating this quest within the Huntly app we have provided a captivating experience that would keep families engaged and eager to explore every element within Fairytale Farm.

Since the launch of the Fairytale Farm quest on the Huntly app, the response has been inspiring. Visitors of all ages have engaged with the interactive experience, immersing themselves in the quest whilst exploring Fairytale Farm and having fun. Not only has Huntly increased dwell times, but it has also sparked joy and excitement among families, enhancing their overall experience. Visitors are then leaving Fairytale Farm with their adventures safely captured within their quest photos, to remind themselves of the lovely memories made during their visit.

By offering Huntly as a complementary activity, Fairytale Farm has differentiated itself from competitors and provided added value to visitors without incurring additional costs to visitors or staffing. The quest's success has transformed Fairytale Farm with the clever use of technology and adventure.

"We have no problem during school holidays but we were looking for something to encourage more visitors all year round. The Huntly app allows our visitors to do a quest at any time of year - it enhances the visit, gives them a reason to stay longer and encourages them to spend more."  - Nick Laister, Director, Fairytale Farm
